The renowned ceramic studios of Niarchos and Pandora created this vibrant set of hand-painted tiles in Rhodes, Greece, during the mid-20th century. These Greek artisans became celebrated for reviving ancient Hellenic and Byzantine motifs, bridging the gap between traditional Mediterranean folk art and the colorful “souvenir-chic” aesthetic of the 1960s and 70s. This set reflects the peak of the Rodian ceramic tradition with its characteristic raised-enamel glazes and iconic regional symbols. Many collectors love these designs for their ability to bring a sense of wanderlust and artisanal warmth to a modern interior.

The set features the highly sought-after “Deer of Rhodes” (Elafos) motif alongside intricate “Lindos-style” floral patterns, offering a poetic look at Greek island heritage. The bold cobalt blues and terracotta oranges contrast beautifully with the creamy glazed background, highlighting the stylized geometry of the petals and the graceful silhouette of the deer. These organic, hand-applied textures give each piece a tactile, three-dimensional appearance that feels both historic and playfully vintage. Because of their classic square silhouette and sturdy ceramic weight, these tiles serve as functional art, protecting surfaces while acting as a miniature gallery on your coffee table or sideboard.

The proportions of this set feel balanced and substantial, with each tile measuring approximately 9 cm in diameter. Additionally, the flat profile and unglazed reverse ensure they sit securely on any surface, keeping a subtle yet colorful footprint in your home. You can use them as a cohesive set for an alfresco gathering or as individual decorative accents tucked into a bookshelf. However, they also work beautifully as a wall-mounted installation in a kitchen when paired with adhesive hangers.
