This decorative tray is a beautiful example of Hindeloopen art (Hindelooper schilderkunst), a famous traditional Dutch folk art painting style from the province of Friesland in the Netherlands. Dating back to the 17th century, this craft started centuries ago in the small sailing town of Hindeloopen. It is loved worldwide for its colorful floral patterns and elegant designs. This tray uses the classic “Hindeloopen Red” background, a warm color that has been a favorite in Dutch homes for generations.

Artistic Details

The tray is decorated by hand with a mix of colorful flowers and a central bird. In Dutch tradition, these motifs often represent a happy home and the beauty of nature. You can see the skill of the artist in the smooth brushstrokes and the fine gold details along the edges. The scalloped, wavy rim gives it an extra touch of elegance. On the back, you will find a hand-painted signature (monogram ‘H’), which shows that this piece was created by a specific artist, making it a unique find.

Styling Tip

This tray, with its thin and lightweight design (0.5 cm), is ideal for storing your keys. The rich red and gold colors infuse warmth into any room, complementing both classic and modern interior styles.
